Abstract

The objective of this study was to verify how reverse logistics for electro-electronic products was implemented in Brazil via Law n° 12,305 of 2 August 2010 and what are the implications arising from the late regulation. The study highlights the need for the theme to be present in the formation of society since the consumption of electronic products is increasing, and it is of great relevance to address Decree No. 10,240 of February 12, 2020 which regulated the mandatory implementation of reverse logistics systems with regard to the disposal of such electro-electronic products. Since this is new legislation, there are many doubts concerning it, and this study is an instrument capable of studying the decree in question and its implications in as much as the shared responsibility of all agents involved in the consumption chain of those products and their components is concerned, a matter that is still little commented upon in the academic environment. On this occasion we also sought to contextualize the reverse logistics theme, present the damage arising from irregular disposal, the benefits and difficulties in its institution as well as to demonstrate how access, or lack of access, to reverse logistics systems for such products contributes to an ecologically balanced environment. The study showed that a considerable lapse has occurred since the creation of the institute of reverse logistics and its regulation through Decree No. 10,240 of February 12, 2020.
