Structuring restorative dialogue: the application of the Transformative Community Conference in an urban space redevelopment experience around a community in a city in Paraíba

Abstract

This article aims to understand the Transformative Community Conference (TCC) as a methodology for structuring community dialogue guided by the identification of preferred narratives and the construction of action plans oriented toward shared futures. As an illustrative case, it presents an experience facilitated by the Núcleo Estadual de Justiça Restaurativa do Tribunal de Justiça da Paraíba (State Restorative Justice Center of the Court of Justice of Paraíba - NEJURE/TJPB), situated in a conflict arising from a project to redevelop the area surrounding a community sports court in a city in Paraíba, Brazil. The findings indicate that the TCC functions as a complementary tool within the field of Restorative Justice, which, by embracing multiple voices and fostering a shared narrative, expands the scope and depth of traditional restorative processes.
