Open Access Policy:
One of the challenging guidelines of Emeron Magazine is the implementation of open science practices in the near future, even recognising the challenges that its adoption imposes, but mainly due to the considerable and essentially enriching transformation of the traditional modus operandi of promoting, designing, conducting and, particularly, communicating research, which results in advantages and gains in terms of the quality of articles published within the scope of these practices.
The term open science refers to a model of scientific practice that, in line with the development of digital culture, aims to make information available online, in contrast to closed laboratory research. It is characterised by the participation of a broad base of potential contributors and inputs, such as data or problem-solving algorithms. Currently, the term also refers to the generation of research materials that are shared openly, without the need for patents.
Open Science is a movement that proposes structural changes in the way scientific knowledge is produced, organised, shared, and reused. It is a new way of doing science, one that is more collaborative, transparent, and sustainable. It encompasses a set of practices, among which the following stand out:
The following figure presents a Portuguese version of the Open Science Taxonomy, originally developed by the Facilitate Open Science Taxonomy Open Science Training for European Research group – Foster (Promotion of Open Science Taxonomy Training for European Research), part of the Open Science project of the Community Research and Innovation Programme, entitled Horizon 2020 .

As can be seen in the taxonomy, Open Science is a movement of movements, composed of several fronts that address different, complementary aspects of scientific work. The discussions and work developed within the scope of Open Science cover topics such as: open access, open data, open reproducible research, open scientific evaluation, open scientific policies, and open scientific tools.
In this perspective, Emeron Magazine is committed to guidelines for the implementation of open science practices throughout its evolution. In these guidelines, we outline our policy for the following practices:
- Open Access
- Open Data
- Open Materials
- Open Education
- Open Peer Review
- Preprints
