The two works presented here constitute only the second publication of the few texts I have written to date. The first was Open Wall, a short story published in the book Women of Brazil – Rondônia, an initiative of Arte da Palavra Publishing. I returned to the impulse to write, which had been stifled in its first blossoming, a moment that remains vivid and will one day be told, after forming a bond with a friend who defied her parents’ expectations during the rebellious years of adolescence. As for me, I waited until the age of forty, an age often said to mark the true beginning of life. The short story presented here, seemingly innocent yet filled with intentions and aspirations, reflects the uncertain courage of someone who knows herself to be attentive and steadfast, while remaining sensitive to external judgments.
