The objective of this article is to analyze the history and resistance of the Traditional Community Paulo Leal, in the face of exploitation and human rights violations in the Amazon. Through interviews and collective activities with the residents, we trace the history of the Paulo Leal Community, which is intertwined with the very history of the Brazilian Amazon and its complex processes of exploitation, such as the construction of the Madeira-Mamoré Railway, the rubber cycles, the implementation of the Santo Antônio Hydroelectric Plant, and the expansion of the agricultural frontier. The results highlight the continuous struggle of the residents against environmental degradation, dispossession, and the expropriation of their lands, as well as the economic and historical losses caused by large infrastructure and colonization projects carried out by external elites, supported by the State. The conclusions emphasize the urgent need for historical reparation and formal recognition of the community as a space of cultural resistance, as well as the importance of public policies that guarantee their territorial rights and promote the preservation of their memory and social identity.
