Rede Semear: weaving agroecological dreams

Abstract

Agroecology has become an important alternative for promoting sustainable agricultural systems grounded in the appreciation of biodiversity, traditional knowledge, and the collective organization of rural communities. In this context, this article analyzes the experience of Rede Semear, formed by women and men family farmers from southeastern Rondônia, seeking to understand how its collective practices contribute to the construction of Agroecology and to the materialization of the principles of Good Living. The research adopts a qualitative approach, bibliographic and documentary in nature, articulated with the interpretive analysis of records, notes, and materials produced by members of the network, making it possible to understand the meanings attributed to their practices and forms of organization. The results show that Rede Semear goes beyond the productive dimension of agriculture, establishing itself as a permanent space for cooperation, training, knowledge exchange, and community strengthening. Initiatives such as collective work efforts, the Seedling and Seed Exchange Fair, the appreciation of creole seeds, and the construction of participatory learning processes are particularly noteworthy. The article concludes that the experience of the network demonstrates that Agroecology can be understood as a way of life guided by solidarity, the defense of biodiversity, the autonomy of farming families, and the construction of sustainable relationships between society and nature, approaching the Latin American perspective of Good Living.
