Plágio
Plagiarism is defined as the full or partial reproduction of another author’s work, of text produced by generative artificial intelligence systems, or of one’s own prior publication, without proper source attribution. This practice constitutes fraud and academic dishonesty. Ideas and words—one’s own or others’—that have already been published must not be used without citation and source identification.
Revista Bem Viver Compartilhando Saberes strongly condemns academic plagiarism and adopts strict preventive measures. All submissions are checked with iThenticate (Crossref’s Similarity Check), enabling the identification of unauthorized copying, misuse of AI-generated text, and strict control of self-plagiarism. The maximum self-citation rate allowed is 5%.
Authors are responsible for adhering to good academic practices. Upon submission, authors must formally declare that they have followed these standards and that the manuscript is free of any form of plagiarism.
Revista Bem Viver Compartilhando Saberes is committed to best practices in research and subscribes to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and related guidelines.
Under Brazilian law, plagiarism violates copyright as established by Law No. 9,610/1998. Article 184 of the Brazilian Penal Code provides for detention of 3 months to 1 year, or a fine, for violation of authors’ rights and related rights. In addition, Article 108 of Law No. 9,610/1998 states that the use of an intellectual work without identifying the author constitutes infringement and may result in civil sanctions, including damages for moral harm.
Each submission is automatically screened by iThenticate/Similarity. A maximum overall similarity of up to 30% may be accepted after qualitative review of each item flagged in the report. For submissions of a preprint, or a prior posting on an academic social network by the author, any similarity index is acceptable. Otherwise, a new analysis is run applying the “exclude bibliography” and “equivalent citations” filters (up to 10 similar words). A new index is generated and reassessed before the article proceeds to editorial review, starting with the editor-in-chief. If similarity is 30% or higher, authors are notified and, if requested, must revise the submission based on the desk review. After corrections, the article proceeds in the workflow. If the revised version is not returned within 30 days, the submission is rejected.
In the Art & Culture section, images and texts that are not original to the authors must be submitted with the author’s authorization for use in this journal under the CC BY 4.0 License.
Submissions with similarity above 30% may be rejected and cannot be resubmitted to the journal.
