Articles

Incomplete submissions or those not in compliance with these guidelines will be returned for adjustments.
Languages and writing: we accept texts in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and Indigenous languages; manuscripts in English, Spanish, or an Indigenous language must be accompanied by a full Portuguese version. We adopt plain language, in accordance with the Plain Language Manual of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies (2024), ensuring clarity and objectivity, avoiding unnecessary acronyms and favoring self-explanatory terms, without compromising academic rigor. The title, abstract (150–250 words), and keywords (3 to 5) must be presented in Portuguese, English, and Spanish; a glossary is recommended for specific terms in Indigenous languages when relevant.
Files and anonymization: attach a separate title page file (option “other”), containing the title (bold, uppercase, Times 12), authors aligned to the right, with a footnote indicating affiliation and email, this template. The article document must be fully anonymized (no author identification), follow the template, and include: title (bold, uppercase, Times 12), tri-lingual abstract and keywords, and the body text justified with 10 to 15 pages (including references). Minimum manuscript structure: Introduction (objectives and relevance), Theoretical framework (when there are research data), Methodology, Results and Discussion (in dialogue with the literature), Final considerations, and References. Research involving humans or animals must state, in the Methodology, approval by the Research Ethics Committee (attach “CEP Approval” when applicable). Preprints are accepted; authors must provide the link and DOI at submission.
Specific Guidelines for Theoretical Essays
Revista Bem Viver welcomes theoretical essays presenting original, critical, and profound reflections. Unlike a simple literature review, the essay requires argumentative authorship and the defense of a thesis. For essay submissions, please observe the following criteria:
- Reflective Structure: The text does not need to follow the classic division (Introduction-Method-Results) and may use subtopics that favor the fluidity of the argumentation.
- Methodological Rigor: Even though it is an essay, it is mandatory to present in the introduction the guiding question (the inquiry that motivates the reflection), the adopted epistemological basis, and the logical path taken to construct the arguments.
- Conclusion: It must revisit the initial question, sustaining the defended thesis or demonstrating how the reflection has advanced the scientific debate in the area.
Mandatory Section: Practical Applications
To reinforce science's social commitment and the traceability of research impact, all articles and essays must contain a mandatory section titled "Practical Applications", inserted immediately before the Final Considerations.
- What to write: A concise text (maximum 100 words) explaining how the study can be used in society, in public policies, by local communities, or within the justice system.
- Objective: To translate theoretical complexity into real utility and social impact.
Art & Culture
The Art & Culture section welcomes works aligned with the journal’s mission to make the knowledges and cultures of Amazonian peoples visible: photo essays, single photographs, illustrations, social cartographies, song lyrics, visual essays, and short videos (up to 15 minutes). We accept materials in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and Indigenous languages; when not in Portuguese, they must be accompanied by a full Portuguese version. We use plain language (Plain Language Manual of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies, 2024) without compromising rigor and cultural fidelity. Please pay attention to the required terms.
